MODERNIZATION - MIGRATION
The Simatic S5 control used to be one of the most popular products when it came to designing automation and control engineering solutions. For a while now, its successor Type S7 has overtaken it and S5 has become a run-out model. Already now, Simatic S5 parts are only available as spare parts. For most S5 types, this life cycle will also come to an end at the latest in 2015, and Siemens will stop supplying them. At the latest from this time onwards, it will become difficult and may very cost-intensive to find suitable spare parts in cases of failure.
MAKE PROVISIONS NOW – SPARE PARTS HOLDINGS A disruption in the control has the unpleasant characteristic that it occurs without announcement and, for the operator, unexpectedly. High downtime costs are inevitable. However, when new solutions only have to be found in case of faults because spare parts are difficult to procure, serious financial and logistical drawbacks are to be expected.
YOUR ADVANTAGE - OUR KNOW-HOW AND COMPREHENSIVE STORAGE
To prepare and implement a suitable solution now - either through conversion to S7 or through alternative measures - presents a large number of advantages. • The budget can be planned. • Times for conversion and standstill can be planned. • The total downtimes for an overhaul are often shorter than in the case of a fault. • A stepwise procedure is possible. • During the course of the conversion, processes are optimised and validated. At the same time, you can ensure higher operational safety and you can also modify and expand your production facilities without major difficulties. If you still have Simatic S5 controls in your company, please get in touch with us. We are happy to support you with the analysis, planning and implementation to protect your company against the risk of high breakdown costs.
